A Roman building-record is built into an interior wall of Cawder House. The inscription is displayed in a central wreath, which is supported on either side by a naked winged genius. Immediately beneath each genius there appears to be an eagle's head issuing from a cornucopia. The text reads LEG(10) / II/ AUG(USTA) / FEC(IT). It is now generally agreed that this stone originally came from a wall-fort to the E of Kirkintilloch, possibly Auchendavy (NS67SE 12).
A Gordon 1726; OSA 1792; G Macdonald 1934; RCAHMS 1978, visited 1975.
NS 6055 7268. This stone is built into the interior face of the N wall of the W wing of Cawder House. It is in good condition.
