Castle gatepiers, c.1715. Ellon Academy now sits astride the avenue originally laid out as an approach to Ellon Castle; the piers of the gate which terminated this avenue have been relocated to the east of the Academy. They are elaborate, with alternate pulvination and double-diamond treatment and are capped by solid, globular finials.
