[NJ 943 052]. Situated at the mouth of Ferryhill Burn on the River Dee, opposite Old Ford Road and off North Esplanade West. Marked A ABD CR, this stone indicates the starting point of the Inner Marches on the South.
D B Gunn, 1929; HBD List 1965.
This granite boundary stone is situated at the N end of the parapet of the culvert that crosses the Ferryhill Burn at its confluence with the River Dee. Rectangular in section, the stone measures 0.3m in breadth by 0.2m in thickness and 0.55m in height. The top of the NNE face is bevelled and bears the incised letter A below which are the letters ABD; below this again, on the vertical part of the stone, there are the letters CR, which stand for 'City Royalty'. The stone is a modern replacement and marks the start of both the inner and outer marches on the S side of the city, a function that may have originally been performed by two separate stones.
