On the south-east site of the Brunt Hill, near the Rotten or Silver Burn is one of the original boundary marks existing by 1698 of the Freedom Lands of Aberdeen (NJ80NE 3) and nearby is the post 1790 boundary stone which bears the legend 'ABD 25'.

NJ 8423 0411. Hard against the post 1790 boundary stone 25/ABD is a large earthfast boulder c.2.6m high, on the SE face of which is a single cup-mark c. 4" (11mm) in diameter.

This boundary stone is situated about 185m SW of East Brotherfield farmsteading (NJ80SW 56.00), immediately to the E of a large earthfast erratic boulder that bears a cup-shaped depression on its E face. Rectangular in section, the boundary stone is of dressed granite and measures 0.31m by 0.17m at ground level and 0.65m in height. The upper part of the NE face is bevelled, reducing the thickness of the stone to 0.08m at the top. On this bevelled face there are the incised letters ABD below the number 25.
The cup-mark on the E face of the erratic boulder is situated at a height of 1m above the ground and measures about 140mm in diameter by 60mm in depth.
