A Stone Cup, with flat circular handle, having a bank of chevrony ornaments underneath the rim, found in a stone circle on the Braes of Forbes.

The Braes of Forbes is the hill slope North of the main road from Kirkton (NJ 51 16) to Bridge of Alford (NJ 55 17). The stone circle referred to may be NJ51NW 5 .

Visited by OS (RL) 10 September 1968.

A stone cup 'with a flat circular handle, having a band of chevrony ornaments underneath the rim' is alleged to have been found in a stone circle on the Braes of Forbes. The cup was exhibited to the Society of Antiquaries in 1874, but its present whereabouts is unknown.
