Archaeology Notes

NJ81SE 13 c. 891 147.

In 1867 a cist was opened while making a railway cutting at Parkhill. It contained a type Ca Beaker and human bones. The beaker and skull are in the anthropological Museum of the Marischal College, Aberdeen In 1881, and described as coming from the same spot, a short cist was found in a mound of sand and gravel within a hundred yards (north-east) of Parkhill Station by workmen digging for gravel.

The cist contained a type Ca beaker, fragments of human and animal bone and some vegetable charcoal. This latter beaker is in the National Museum of Antiquities, Edinburgh (Accession no. EG2).
