Archaeology Notes

NJ32SE 2 3518 2027

The remains of a rectangular building, measuring 13.5m from NE to SW by 5.2m transversely over stone walls reduced to footings 0.7m in thickness and 0.4m in height, are situated immediately SE of the rough track that rises towards the saddle separating Claisdhu Hill to the NW and Creag na Gamhna to the SE. There is an entrance towards the NE end of the SE side, and possibly another central to the SW end.

The building is depicted as roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1869, sheet l).
