A large and powerful trawler comprehensively equipped for the gutting, preparation and freezing of fish on board. Like other trawlers of recent years, such vessels typically shoot nets astern, and have large stern ramps for the purpose. Some fish by suction, rather than trawling.Together with Fish Carriers and Fish Factory Ships vessels of this type are associated with the Russian 'Klondykers' which operated off Scotland during the Soviet period.
