(Location cited as NY 362 845). Suspension Bridge, mid 19th century, engineers E. Hernulewicz & Co., London. A wooden span with light lattice railings, supported by iron-link chains with iron suspenders. The pylons are cast- and wrought-iron on coursed rubble bases.

(Suspension bridge of Samuel Brown chain type). Late 19th century, E. Hernulewicz & Co., London, engineers. Steel pylons on masonry bases. Single link chain (2 links wide) on each side, rod suspenders, wooden deck with light steel lattice girders. Public footbridge.

J R Hume 1977b.

Boatford Bridge, which crosses the Esk to New Langholm, is a suspension bridge by E Hernulewicz and Co of London, c. 1871, the cast-and wrought-iron pylons standing on masonry piers. It replaced another suspension bridge, which both opened and collapsed in 1871.

J Gifford 1996.

This bridge carries a footpath across the River Esk just above (to the N of) the entry of the Wauchope Water, and between Elizabeth Street (to the W) and George Street (to the E).

The location assigned to this record defines the midpoint of the structure. The available map evidence indicates that it extends from NY c. 36202 84528 to NY c. 36256 84506.
