NY27NW 10 c. 235 777.

A bronze coin of Maxentius found about 1935 in repairing a stone dyke at Dockenflat (NY 235 777), near Ecclefechan, was shown to Birley by Mr A Cunningham, Larchcroft, Ecclefechan.

E Birley 1938

The bronze coin of Maxentius was found by Mr Cunningham about the middle of the W side of Birrens (NY27NW 4) in 1934. The coin found at Dockenflat was a small, as yet unidentified Roman coin; it was not found by Mr Cunningham, who could not supply any further information regarding its find-spot. The two coins are either in the Dumfries or Edinburgh Museum.
