Archaeology Notes

NX89NW 11 c. 803 968.

A polished stone axe, 4 1/2 ins by 2 1/8 ins, found on Carson's Park, Auchenhessnane (Auchenhessnane farm: NX 803 968) which was in Thornhill Museum in 1888, was transferred to Dumfries Museum in 1965.

Group VI. Accession no: 1965-97. (Group VI comprises objects of epidotized intermediate tuff of the Borrowdale Volcanic Series from the Great Langdale and Scafell areas of Cumbria).
