Archaeology Notes

NX78NW 6 7417 8639.

NX 7417 8639. A turf-covered, 'U' shaped, Burnt Mound, situated on level ground 10 metres from Abbey Burn and near the SW angle of a probable Iron Age settlement (see NX78NW 4). It measures overall 8.0m E-W, by 7.0m N-S and is 0.6m high with the open E side facing the settlement area. Probing, showed its composition of blackened earth and burnt small stones.

Surveyed at 1:10 000.
