RMS ME70 'rude wooden vessel....from Dalvaird Moss, Glenluce'.

NMAS 1892.

Bowl with vertically-set loop handle, held in the National Museum of Scotland under accession numbers NMS SFA 6 and ME 70. Dated by radiocarbon to 265 +/- 70 ad (OxA-2414).

C Earwood 1993.

Held in store at the Royal Museum of Scotland under accession number NMS SFA 6 (having formerly been numbered ME 70) there is a wooden bowl (or 'cup') which was found 'under a large wooden dish' (which does not appear to survive) in Dalvaird Moss. It has a vertically-set handle and is of similar form to one of those from Ardgour (NM96SE 6). It has been dated by radiocarbon to 265 ? 70 ad (OxA-2414), which determination may be calibrated to between about 339 and 372 cal AD.
