NX15NW 89.01 c.1156 5939

The airfield Battle HQ is situated in dense undergrowth about 100m N of the A75(T) road,at a point 400m NW of 'Pennylight'.

Built of brick and concrete with three underground rooms and a raised covered concrete platform with slit above ground.

The Battle HQ was for directing the defence of the airfield against attack, particularly from the air.

Located to the south west of the former flying field in woodland alongside the A75, this bunker is in fair condition. The emergency hatch lies broken inside the bunker and the emergency ladder is still in place. There is some water inside but not much.
