Forty-two discs of shale, found in Portpatrick Churchyard (NW95SE 1), have been given to the NMAS.

The churchyard is centred on NW 9996 5420. Similar finds in Stranraer Museum are:- a disc of cannel from the centre of a shale ring from Portpatrick. (1968 MW 13) and a disc of cannel from Portpatrick Churchyard (MW 13). Both are on loan from the Ministry of Public Works Whithorn. No further information. (Stranraer Museum Catalogue)

This site has been interpreted as a jet bangle factory, possibly on the basis of Urquhart's saying that as well as slate discs two to three inches in diameter, the rings out of which they seem to have been cut are also found. Mann ascribes it to the Iron Age.
