Archaeology Notes

NT86NE 16 8996 6873.

NT 899 687. A masonry cist containing an inhumation was discovered in a rock-cut pit on a natural shelf about 50m NE of the fort described on NT86NE 12.

RCAHMS 1980, visited February 1980.

NT 8996 6873. The carefully constructed grave was oriented N-S, 1.75m long, 0.5m wide and 0.75m deep. On the longest sides a coursed facing supported the capping lintels. The skeleton of a male was laid prone, head to the S, with both arms flexed and crossed over the chest. There were no grave goods.
