Archaeology Notes

NT84SW 2.01 81445 41803

A stone slab standing to a height of about 80cm is situated on the outer part of the causeway at the SSE edge. On the S-facing side is an inscription within a doubled lined circle. The faded inscription is difficult to read, but is likely to read 'St Margaret's' the second line reads 'walk'.

The 'stone' is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Berwickshire, 1862, sheet).
