Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Lying to the north-east of Swinton House is a group of buildings which includes a stable block built in 1825.

The stables are Palladian in character, and are built on a U-plan. The range includes a central coach house and coachman's quarters, with loose boxes and a harness room located in one wing and a stable block housing a row of stalls in the other. The original wooden fittings still survive.

Unusual survivals at this site are two egg-end boilers of nineteenth-century date, made from riveted plates of cast iron.
