The North Lodge, stands at the northern entrance to the grounds of Swinton House, is believed to date from the mid- to late nineteenth century.
The lodge itself is a single-storeyed building, made of sandstone, which is to the west of the entrance. Access to the estate was controlled by means of iron gates. A large central gate allowed vehicular access, while pedestrians could be admitted by smaller gates on either side.
