Archaeology Notes

NT76NE 34 78436 69760

For predecessor Cromwell's Bridge (to E) and successor New Tower Bridge (to W), see NT76NE 3 and NT76NE 40 respectively.

This bridge carries the former line of the A1 (T) public road over the Tower Burn to the SE of Cockburnspath village.

The statement (in the HBM List, 9 June 1971) that this bridge spans the Pease Burn is incorrect.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 2 February 2006.
