Archaeology Notes

NT74NE 7.03 75933 46194

The control tower or watch office for the airfield stood on the SW edge of the technical area, about 96m SW of the remaining SW T2 aircraft hangar (NT74NE 7.02).

Built to drawing number 518/40, it was reputed to have been demolished some time in the 1970s.

The control tower is visible on RAF WW II vertical air photographs (NLA 47, 5.5-5.8, flown 23 September 1942 and FNO 155, 2.26-2.30, flown 26 September 1942).

Information from RCAHMS (DE), March 2006.
