Accessing Scotland's Past Project

The churchyard surrounding Ednam parish church was doubled in size in 1906, following a gift of land from Sir Richard Griffiths. The churchyard contains the burial enclosure of the Edmonstone family, which lies to the north-east of the church and which may contain stones used in the construction of the original church built around 1105.

A number of interesting gravestones can be seen in the churchyard: one depicts a mother playing with her child, while another has a carving of a 'green man', originally a pagan symbol, on the side.
