Archaeology Notes

NT71NE 1.01 7904 1939

The stone axe fragment that ws found in the excavation of Hownam Rings is held in the Royal Museum of Scotland under accession number NMS HH 516. It has been petrologically attributed to group VI (epidotized intermediate tuff of the Borrowdale Volcanic Series from the Great Langdale and Scafell areas of Cumbria).
