Archaeology Notes

NT67NW 3.08 61594 79583

The doorway to the walled garden (centred NT 615 795) associated with Tyninghame House has an 18th century Gibbs surround on the outside, but on the inside is a flat-arched Renaissance doorway dated 1666. (This doorway is said to have come from the earlier Tyninghame House, or (C E Green 1907) from the old manse - see NT67NW 2).

Country Life 1902; C McWilliam 1978.

This doorway is situated at NT 61594 79583. It could not be confirmed whether it came from the old manse or the mansion house.

Visited by OS (EGC), 6 November 1962.
