The Belgian steamer Charles was driven ashore near North Berwick on 26th November 1927. All of the crew were saved, and the vessel was subsequently refloated.

The steamer Charles of Antwerp from Bo'ness to Blyth, light, which a fortnight ago was driven on the rocks near North Berwick owing to a breakdown of the steering gear, was refloated on Sunday and towed out off Fidra.
