(Name: NT 4690 9979) MacDuff's Cave (NR)

OS 6" map (1919)

According to legend and tradition, MacDuff (11th century) concealed himself in the cave at Kincraig which bears his name. A substantial wall built across the recess of the cave is pointed out as having been built to shelter MacDuff, but it is of much later date.

W Wood 1887

The story of MacDuff secreting himself in the cave at Kincraig Point will hardly bear critical examination.

A H Millar 1895

(NT 4680 9984) MacDuff's Cave (NAT)

OS 6" map (1971)

MacDuff's Cave is now little more than a large rock shelter. There is no trace of the wall referred to.
