CEU excavation in advance of construction work.

M Dalland 1988

Burials were discovered during construction work in the grounds of Winton House, Cockenzie. Seven undisturbed inhumations were present, at leat four of which had originally been contained within cists. The latter displayed a variety of construction techniques and alignments. The best preserved example was a flexed inhumation in a short cist made of vertical upright sandstone slabs.
