Watching Brief
Ahead of a programme of water pipeline installation, one test pit located east of Lindean Church was stripped of topsoil under archaeological supervision to reveal loose light greyish brown silty sand 0.1 m thick. An intermediate deposit of mid yellowish brown silty sand clay with frequent angular and sub-angular stones circa 1 m deep was noted overlying yellowish brown sandy gravel subsoil. During the course of the test pit monitoring no features of archaeological significance were encountered.
