Shaft/Mine Details: 2 shafts, 229m and 241m deep. No. 1 shaft disused after sinking of No. 3 shaft in 1900.

Details in 1948: Output 600 tons per day, 150,000 tons per annum. 500 employees. Lurig type washer [equipment for the wet cleaning of coal]. Baths, canteen, first-aid room. Electricity supplied by SE Scotland Electricity Board. Report dated 15-07-1948.

Other Details: Washery closed in 1953 and coal sent to new washery at Dalkeith 5 (NT36NE 76).
