The cropmark of this enclosure is visible on a vertical air photograph (OS 89/189/29, flown 1989).
Information from RCAHMS
A ploughed-down field boundary and rig have been recorded as cropmarks on oblique aerial photography (RCAHMSAP 2000) immediately N and E of the settlement. The field boundary lies about 50m N of the settlement and is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Edinburghshire 1854, sheet 7).

This settlement is situated on a terrace to the E of Easter Cowden farmsteading and has been recorded as cropmarks on oblique aerial photography (RCAHMSAP 1976, 1977, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1999, 2000). It is oval in plan, measuring about 60m from NE-SW by about 50m transversely, within a broad ditch broken on the NE by an entrance.

Cropmarks reveal a circular enclosure 200m E of Easter Cowden; it measures 55m in diameter within a ditch about 3m in breadth. On the EN E there is an entrance causeway measuring about 8m wide between expanded ditch terminals.
