World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (6 November 2013)

At least 20 separate trenches, intended to provide cover for riflemen defending the fortress of Inchkeith, have been recorded on the island (The National Archives WO 78/5161).

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.
