Battery Control Post North is situated on level ground between M Group gun emplacement (NT28SE 5.02) and L Group (NT28SE 5.05). Consisting of two circular areas of low concrete wall connected by a double parallel wall about 11m in length. Almost a figure of eight in plan it has upstanding concrete pillars for unknown equipment in the N loop and another located nearby.
At ground level and below ground is a further compartment with entrance to the W.
Noted as B.C. Post North on the WO plan of the Island (RCAHMS MS 879/83).
Information from RCAHMS (DE), April 2009.
Project (March 2013 - September 2013)
A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.
Note (6 November 2013)
A B.C. Post (North) is annotated on a map of Inchkeith (The National Archives WO 78/5162). It was the battery command for the two 6-inch guns of the 'I' or later 'M' group (seee NT28SE 5.02). During the First World War it was probably abandoned when a new B.C. post was constructed beside the amended 'M' group when the south gun emplacement was removed.
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 6 November 2013.
