Architecture Notes

N28SE 5.24 Centred 29165 82811

Group of flat roofed buildings annotated 'Naval buildings' on the WO plan of the island (MS 879/83). Most buildings are built of brick and concrete and their use remains unknown except the most westerly which was the 'artificers store'.

All buildings shown on the WO plan would appear to survive on the slope W of the track leading to Fort No.1 (NT28SE 1.01). The buildings are mainly of brick with concrete roofs.

Visited by RCAHMS (DE, AL, JM), 25 February, 4 and 5th March 2009
