To the NW and NE of the larger of the two hut circles, correctly described by the Commission, are the footings of two additional hut circles with diameters of 4.3m. and 4.7m. respectively, comprising low stone-and-turf banks 0.2m. high and 0.6m. maximum width.
The enclosure (as describd by RCAHMS) is in fact a larger hut circle and, about 120m. SE of this, there is the outline of another, 12.4m. in diameter, bounded on the N. side by a scarp 0.2m high: modern ditches surround this circle on the remaining three sides. The numerous heaps of stones within this area are for the most part grassed over and appear to be stone clearance heaps.
Surveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (WDJ) 20 June 1962.
Scheduled as 'Dryhope, hut circle, cairns and field system... comprises the remains of a hut circle, two burial cairns, a possible enclosed cremation cemetery, and a field system made up of clearance cairns.'

Hut-Circles, Dryhope (NT 262 247).
These hut-circles, two in number, are situated on level ground 30 yds. S. of the track from Dryhope to Dryhopehope, a quarter of a mile W. of Dryhope and at a height of 950ft. OD. One of the hut-circles is 14ft. in diameter, with a ruinous stone wall spread to a thickness of 4 ft. and an entrance on the E., and the other, 63ft. to the E. of the first, is 11ft. in diameter and has a similar wall but no apparent entrance. A circular enclosure lies 65 ft. E. of the smaller hut- circle; it is 35ft. in diameter, is formed by a low stony bank spread to a thickness of 6ft., and has its entrance on the E.
The hut-circles and enclosure lie in the SE. of an area of about 4 acres in which there are twenty-two heaps of stones, disposed at random, which vary in diameter from 5ft. to 18ft. While these heaps may well have been formed during the clearance of the ground for cultivation, they may also be compared with the "cairn-fields" known in certain parts of the country, for some of which a sepulchral origin seems to be at least possible.
