NT17SE 70.09 15753 73149

A type 27 pillbox has been identified from post-war RAF vertical air photograph (106G/Scot/UK 119, Pt.I, 5034, flown 20 June 1946) on the S perimeter track about 300m WSW of Gogar Mains farmstead. The pillbox is depicted on the OS 1:10000 scale map (1989), but it is unknown whether it survives in 2001.

Situated 91m to the E of the Edinburgh Air Centre is a type 27 pillbox. Built of brick and concrete, it survives to roof height. The entrance is to the N and it has been given a modern bitumen roof which covers the central open area.

The pillbox is depicted on the current OS 1:2500 scale digital map.
