Archaeology Notes

NT08NE 36 0674 8622.

NT 0674 8622. A short cist containing a food vessel was found at a depth of 2.5m to 3m in sandy gravel at the junction of Morar Road and Affric Way by workmen on 13th November 1972. The cist, which measured 1.0m by 0.7m, was destroyed next day.

No bones were noted. The food vessel, recovered by Mr A Hall was presented to Dunfermline Museum by the contractors, Geo Wimpey & Co (Accession no 172 354).

Information regarding siting, etc. was collected by Martin Norgate, Dunfermline Museum, about a week after the cist had actually been found.
