Archaeology Notes

NT07SW 5 c. 00 72.

The chapel of Retrevyn (Tartraven - NT 001 724) which was dedicated to St Leonard the Abbot, was granted to the Priory of St Andrews in 1202-38. Land was given to the chapel by Sir Richard de Melville who lived c.1180- 1215.

H Scott 1950

This chapel would probably be associated with Tartraven Castle (NT07SW 3) and therefore may have been close to it, possibly where Mid Tartraven farm stands (NT 0045 7252) which is quite a suitable situation.

Visited by OS (JLD) 4 December 1952

No further information (see NT07SW 3).

Visited by OS (DWR) 28 March 1974.
