An area of rig-and-furrow cultivation has been recorded on large scale vertical air photographs (OS 75/134/063, flown 1975), in rough ground immediately to the W of Woodmuir Colliery (NS96SE 10.00). The rig extends to the S up to a small dusused quarry (NS 9735 6049). Much of the area has been disturbed by 19th and 20th century coal workings. Further areas of rig-and-furrow cultivation have been recorded under NS96SE 11 and NS96SE 12 )
