Situated in rough pasture on the S of a conifer plantation, this coal mine, which is depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Stirlingshire 1899, sheet xxxv) as a bing on the W of a railway siding and pithead buildings, labelled 'Pit No. 2 (Disused)', comprises a pit on the E of a flat-topped bing of oblong shape, aligned NNW to SSE.
