(NS 873 572) Blackhall farmsteading is the centre of an open-cast mine, and could not be visited. (CSW 6984).
(NS 8699 5724) The pond that is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Lanarkshire, 1864, sheet xiii) had been considerably enlarged by the end of the century (2nd edition, 1899, sheet xiii.SW). Its location now lies buried under spoil from open-cast mining. (CSW 3369)
(NS 8728 5719) A small pond 30m SSW of the farm buildings is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Lanarkshire, 1864, sheet xiii). It was still in existence in 1910 (1921 revision, sheet xiii) but Ordnance Survey vertical air photography (1975) reveals that it was subsequently drained. (CSW 3370)
Visited by RCAHMS (JRS, IF) 20 March 1995.
