Shaft/Mine Details: Previously 4 shafts, two at 55m and two at 137m, but latterly only Nos. 1 & 3, and a drift mine.

Details in 1948: Output 989 tons per day, 267,850 tons per annum. Stoop and room and longwall working. 1,028 employees. 6 screens for dry coal, jig (Luhrig) and jig (Dickson and Mann) washers. Baths (1933) with 960 lockers. Canteen (packed meals). Ambulance station. Steam and electricity (0.4% public supply). Report dated 09-08-1948.

Other Details: Operated by Sanquhar & Kirkconnel Coal Company from 1903, and William Baird from 1925 (later Bairds & Dalmellington Limited). Associated brickworks operated from 1912 until the 1970s.
