Activities

Field Visit (21 June 2017)

Nothing is visible in an area now occupied by Toryglen School of a World War Two heavy anti-aircraft battery which is recorded on an RAF vertical aerial photographs taken on 21 October 1941 (CAM/015 x00902), in 1948 (CPE/SCOT/UK327, 4148) and 1950 (RAF 540/A/473, 268). It was one of at least 43 such batteries that were constructed to protect the industries in the centre of Glasgow and along the banks of the River Clyde from aerial attack by the Luftwaffe.
