Depicted on the revised 2nd edition of the 25-inch map (Lanarkshire 1913, sheet VI.3)

Station probably opened 31.05.1858 as junction of Edinburgh and Glasgow, and Glasgow, Dunbarton and Helensburgh Railways. Closed 02.03.1964.

Situated within the complex network of junctions and railway works at the upper (NE) end of the Cowlairs incline (NS56NE 1866.00), this station was opened by the Edinburgh and Glasgow Rly on 21 February 1842. It subsequently passed to the North British Rly, and closed to regular passenger traffic on 7 September 1964.
