Archaeology Notes

NS44SW 34 c. 415 435

(Buston 3). A further logboat is said to have been discovered at an unknown date on Lochside farm, on or near the boundary between the parishes of Dreghorn and Stewarton and near the logboats Buiston (Buston) 1 and 2 (NS44SW 2); its association (if any) with the crannog that is described under that number is unclear.

It was at first taken to the Dick Institute, Kilmarnock, but its present whereabouts are unknown and it may have been transferred to the Hunterian Museum, University of Glasgow, where it may be identified with that displayed under the location 'River Clyde' (for which see NS44SW 34).

Information from Mr J Hunter (Kilmarnock Museum); R J C Mowat 1996.
