OS 25" map (1964)

The remains of Kilmaurs Tower abut the W wall of its successor, Kilmaurs Place (NS44SW 8) (see also NS55SW 3).

N Tranter 1965; D McNaught 1912

The walls of the W part of this tower are about 3.0m high and 0.8m thick, and are in a ruinous condition. The E part has been roofed and restored, and now serves as a farm outbuilding. A rectilinear doorway exists at the NW angle, and the interior contains the remains of a vault and a fireplace. The remains of an old wall about 1.0m high, possibly a former courtyard wall, run from the SW angle of the tower for a distance of 24.0m.
