HES Survey and Recording 11-13 June 2019

Field Visit (31 October 2019)

This stone setting is situated in rough moorland 95m NE of a standing stone (NR92NW 32). It measures about 3.5m square overall and each orthostat is a crude granite slab with a pointed top and an internal face that is smoother and more regular than its outer face. The SSE stone measures 0.93m broad by 0.6m thick and 0.96m high, while that on the WSW is 0.85m broad, 0.51m thick and 0.96m high, and appears the tallest to an observer. The NNW orthostat measures 0.42m broad by 0.35m thick and 0.76m high; the stone on the ENE, which was not measured, is the smallest of the four. The interior seems to be largely occupied by a low heather- and grass-grown mound.

Visited by HES, Survey and Recording, (ATW, GLB, KLG) 31 October 2019.
