Archaeology Notes

NR69SE 3 685 939.

NR 685 939. Excavations were carried out at N Carn in 1968. The artifacts found were 713 microliths and a few heavy quartzite tools. The main charcoal concentration was within a small, sunken L-shaped stone setting in the main area; a radio-carbon date giving a calendar age of mound 6000 BC was obtained. Charcoal from the highest levels gave a corrected age of about 2080 BC.

J Mercer 1974.
