(Name: NR 3440 6112) Stone cist found A.D. 1847 (NAT)

OS 6" map, Argyllshire, 2nd ed., (1900)

A 'stone coffin' about 6ft in length by 2ft broad, similar to that described on NR36SE 3, was found here in 1847.

Name Book 1878.

The siting falls on the edge of a gravelly bank above a dry burn. Nothing is visible, and the farmer reports no finds here.

Field Visit (June 1977)

NR 344 611. Nothing survives of a cist, measuring about 1.8m in length and 0.6m in breadth, which was found at Starchmill in 1847 (ONB 1878).
