Montrose, 28th Sept. The ELIZA WATSON (schr.), Mearns, from Sunderland to this port, has been stranded in the bay here: vessel a wreck: part of materials saved: crew saved by lifeboat.

The name Montrose Bay applies to the ill-defined and shallow indentation that extends towards the N from Scurdie Ness and the mouth of the River South Esk, and is continuously sand-fringed along its W side.
