Geophysical Survey (22 August 2019 - 23 August 2019)

NO 5313 5640 Approximately 8.7ha of magnetic gradiometry data was collected on 22-23 August 2019. The survey targeted the unscheduled areas surrounding a large cairn (Canmore ID: 34829) and ring ditch, which are overlooked by the enclosure at Balbinny which produced AD 400–600 dates. The survey revealed a number of probable barrows to the W and S of the large cairn. The presence of high-voltage power lines to the north of the cairn obscured the detection of unrecorded archaeological features there.
